Rabbi Baron Welcomes You to Temple of the Arts

"Our philosophy is Judaism through music, drama, art and dance.  Religion through the arts.  We've perfected it over the last fifteen to twenty years..."

- Rabbi David Baron

The Harold Kapelovitz Memorial Bimah Featuring the Tapestry by Marc Chagall

Mrs. Lee Kapelovitz dedicated our magnificent bimah in memory of her late husband Harold in December.  The bimah design was envisioned by our Rabbi with the assistance of his wife Adrienne and Bruce Ryan.

The goal was to create a dramatic living Jewish message of faith and peoplehood.  Through the Rabbi’s efforts we secured the exclusive rights to recreate the magnificent tapestry of legendary artist, Marc Chagall entitled “The Journey of the People”.  The original evocative work of art depicting the history of our people from Moses to King David hangs in the Knesset in Jerusalem.  The art deco elements of our restored proscenium were incorporated into the design of the pillars, Holy Ark, and pulpits.  The six backlit panels present eighteen (chai) word concepts of Jewish faith and belief taken from the Torah.  We are proud of our bimah that reflects the vision of our Temple of the Arts.
