Temple of the Arts Provides a Multi-Cultural Shabbat Experience

Temple member, actor Michael Bell grooving with the Spirit of David Gospel Choir.

Temple of the Arts is a unique congregation.  There are many artists in our ranks, and those whose business is the arts.  This may encourage us to follow 'the beat of a different drummer', as our understanding of art opens our mind to an understanding of ourselves, our community and our world.  Being Jews, we recognize those whose world-views are different, yet intersect with ours.  We needn't be Jewish to love family, to embrace creativity, to allow differing opinions into our life.  We just need to be open to accepting, and open to learning.

The Jewish Community is an international one.  We have learned from the past that ethocentric views that negate the impact and contributions of differing values threatens all of us.  As Jews, we are aware of others, and welcome what they bring to our table.

Temple of the Arts celebrates humanity.  It makes us better Jews.  And to that end, we enjoy presenting a Shabbat experience like no other.  We will continue to provide a thought-provoking environment that underscores the meaning of Shabbat.  Shabbat is a festive day, and on this day we not only praise God but also praise his creation.  As we 'cease from work' we do not cease from thought.  We look forward to seeing you at our home,  the Saban Theatre to share our Shabbat Experience with you, your friends and your family.

ALL are welcome to the Shabbat service.  Pre-Service Reception is open to Temple members and those who are interested in membership - requires an RSVP to
323-658-9100.

Upcoming Shabbat Services

Join Rabbi David Baron and Temple of the Arts for Shabbat Services on Friday, February 17 at 8 p.m.  Featuring Special Guests "The Blue and White El Al Ambassadors".

While their colleagues from other airlines take advantage of their stay abroad to rest, go sightseeing or shop, El Al's flight attendants and pilots will be stopping by at Temple of the Arts to join in another memorable Shabbat Service.

These 'ambassadors' have undergone intensive training and are eager to present the State of Israel's beautiful, positive and apolitical face.

The project was initiated by El Al CEO Elyezer Shkedy together with the Jewish Agency, the Foreign Ministry and the StandWithUs pro-Israel education and advocacy organization.
